Welcome to Inclusion

Greetings from Managua, Nicaragua. I am Kelly Kelley, the Director of Inclusion for Pathways-12th grade. It is my goal to empower students to advocate for their needs and wants, communicate on a consistent basis with families about their child’s progress, give teachers the tools they need to understand, teach and support all learners to achieve their goals and most importantly, create an environment where everyone feels a sense of belonging no matter the differences.

INCLUSION AT ANS

What are current ANS families saying about the Inclusion program?

“I am very happy because my son has the best learning specialist teacher that is patient, supportive, caring and helpful and is always there for my son and that is why I love ANS!”

“It has been very emotional seeing my son become a more confident kid through this COVID period. It has been academic progress and also emotional progress. I thank you again for the incredible patience you have with him, never giving up and finding a way.”

“The Inclusion Support lead and reading program lead by ANS school staff has been a great help for my daughter. My daughter suffers from dyslexia, which makes her have low self esteem, anger and sometimes fear. The program and the support from the school staff has been really helpful for her.”

What types of learning can ANS support?

We pride ourselves on being able to support students with mild to moderate learning differences.

Reading: Reading learning disabilities can include problems with phonological processing, reading fluency or speed, and reading comprehension.

Writing: Dysgraphia is a learning disability that affects writing abilities. It can manifest itself as difficulties with spelling, poor handwriting and trouble putting thoughts on paper.

Math: Dyscalculia is a math learning disability that impairs an individual’s ability to learn number-related concepts, perform accurate math calculations, reason and problem solve, and perform other basic math skills.

ADHD: ADHD is one of the most common neurodevelopmental disorders of childhood. Children with ADHD may have trouble paying attention, controlling impulsive behaviors or be overly active.

How will ANS serve my child?

We use the Tiers of Support framework to help guide our instruction and support students throughout the learning process.

With highly experienced inclusion support specialists representing all grade levels, we are dedicated to offering children the necessary tools and resources to realize their full potential.

The Inclusion team carefully looks at existing Individualized Learning Plans (IEP), reads other evaluations, analyzes recent data results, meets with the classroom teachers, partners with parents and creates a plan with goals to individualize support for students.
