During the current COVID-19 pandemic, the ANS club, She’s the First, started a campaign to help the country’s healthcare department and contribute in the fight against the disease.
She’s the First is an independent ANS chapter, a non profit organization that fights gender inequality with education, and whose mission is: “a world where every girl chooses her own future”. The club advocates that through education, they can empower young women in Nicaragua who face adversity.
Led by its president, Verónica Lanuza, the club collected 3,548 dollars. Medical supplies such as gloves, masks, and suits were donated to several public hospitals. According to the club, the donations included 300 DN95 masks, 1,000 surgical gloves, 16 white medical suits, 16 face shields, and 230 green medical suits. In addition, the club is also planning to donate food supplies and other basic necessities to the families of the girls from El Jobo School in Diriamba this month.
She’s the First is still actively accepting donations. If you are interested in donating, you can contact them through Instagram or email:
During these difficult times, we hope everyone stays safe, and if possible, takes the initiative to help others in our community. We invite others to collaborate in the effort against fighting COVID-19.
