Mother, I Promise

“This poem is inspired by my connection to my Catholic religion. For me over the years it has been very hard to connect to something, and through everything that has happened in Nicaragua and worldwide I have been able to connect more to my faith because i think it’s important to have something to connect to.”

Mother, I Promise

I hope there never comes a day where I forget you.

Because if I could have one thing in the world, it would be your love.

Forever is the best word to describe you.

Never ending, forever here.

I hope there never comes a day where I miss you.

Your motherly love knows no bounds.

Even if I can’t see you, I can feel you ever so strongly.

My guide, my mother.

I hope I never miss your advice.

I hope I will always believe.

No, I promise this.

I promise to love you unconditionally.

I also promise to follow my father and my son.

For that is all I need.

Mother, I promise.
