Last week, 3 ANS students traveled to Honduras to compete in AASCA Track & Field 2019-2020. Andrea Farach, Valeska Navarrete, and Andrea Sosa went alongside their coaches: Mr. Claro and Ms. Joiner. The team performed exceptionally well, having won 3 gold medals, a bronze medal, and even having set an AASCA record.
The Escuela Internacional Sampedrana hosted the event. Over 350 athletes from 18 schools participated in this event.
Valeska Navarrete, a freshmen, won a gold medal in Shot Put. With this event, she set the AASCA record for the U14 Female category. Impressively, she also won a gold medal in Discus. Moreover, she won a bronze medal in Javelin.

Andrea Farach, a senior, won a gold medal in Shot Put. This is an improvement from her performance in last year’s AASCA in El Salvador, where she won bronze.
“Transforming my bronze medal to a gold medal is one of the greatest feeling I have ever felt,” says Farach. “I am grateful for my coaches and team members.”
Meanwhile, Andrea Sosa was the MVP in the U14 Female category. Despite injuring her hamstring 2 months ago, she still attended the competition, and managed to score fourth place in both Javelin and Shot Put.
Farach reflects on AASCA Track & Field 2019-2020: “I am very proud of our accomplishments as a team… we have more medals than team members!”
