The American Nicaraguan School won “Best Large Delegation” for the fourth consecutive year at the XXV HACIA Democracy Summit.
The conference was held in Santo Domingo, Dominican Republic, between March 14th and March 17th. Secondary students from 32 schools attended, coming from across the American continent.
15 secondary students represented our school, under the leadership of Ms. Sonia Davila.
Our students performed exceptionally. Laura Sanchez, Claudio Rosales, Wei-Ting Shih, and Susan Castellon were awarded the “Best Delegate” diplomas. Yoon Gi Park and Avis Corea won “Outstanding Delegates.” Juan Ignacio Ortiz and Inhyuk Seo won “Honorable Mention.”
HACIA, which stands for Harvard Association for Cultivating Inter-American Democracy, is intended to offer educational experiences to students interested in democratic advancement and development, particularly regarding domestic and regional issues in the Americas.
“Ms. Davila has worked with HACIA for over twenty years” said Avis Corea, president of HACIA in ANS. “We truly are a family: we support ourselves in every way, and we share an intense dedication to debate.”
