The Central American games are underway from December 3-17 and the Nicaraguan government has built a new sports center complete with Olympic-sized pools. These pools have been named after ANS’s own Michele Richardson.
For the vice president, naming the pools after Ms. Richardson is a recognition of Michele’s effort and strong capacity for sports. In 1984, Mrs. Richardson competed as part of the United States’ swimming team, winning the silver medal for the 80 meter freestyle category.
The Nicaraguan government has invested over $3.6 million in the sports center and it will be able to hold up to 1,200 people. The center includes two Olympic-sized pools with nine lanes.
It is an honor for our school and our country to have the pools named after Ms. Richardson, one of our very own Tigers!
