On Wednesday September 20, Hurricane Maria devastated Puerto Rico with winds of 155 mph. Maria arrived to Puerto Rico as a category five, at 11:15 a.m. at Yabucoa, south east coast of Puerto Rico. As Maria stormed through Puerto Rico, it caused the whole island to lose electrical power. This is a big problem for everyone who need to communicate with their families and friends.
Hurricane Maria left a path of destruction with fallen trees and destroyed buildings and bridges.
“This is just the beginning,” Mr. Rosselló said in an interview with El Nuevo Dia, the largest daily newspaper in Puerto Rico. “We know there are severe damages along different rivers and reservoirs, and water has overflowed from riverbanks, causing flooding”.
People have sought refuge in 500 centers available.
