Last Saturday, March 18th, our ANS students from the Chinese class were able to participate in the Chinese speaking competition 2017, organized by the embassy of China and Taiwan. This speaking competition consisted of Chinese-Mandarin students from all over Nicaragua, including students from colleges and Chinese cultural institutions.
This was a good opportunity for our Chinese students to test their abilities and a great experience to learn more about this language. This was not our first time participating in this event, and we certainly had an outstanding performance in the past years.
This year, two 9th grade students, Isabella Deshon and Vanessa Bendana, were chosen by the Chinese teacher for their excellent pronunciation. Although they didn’t receive any awards, we are proud to announce that these two students were the only high-school students who participated in the contest. It was surely a challenge for them to compete with the well-experienced college students but we know that they both gave their best and truly honored our school.
Some Chinese students also went to the competition in order to perform. For example, the Chinese II students gave light to the event by singing and dancing to the Chinese song called ‘You’re My Flower’. Elementary Chinese students further brightened up the mood by performing their song and dance that they had practiced for two weeks.
Mrs. Yun, the Chinese teacher of ANS is really proud of and happy about her students’ performances, and she looks forward to another competition in 2017. Good job Chinese language students!!
