Since the beginning of the school year the 8th graders have been preparing for their annual trip to Washington DC, the capital city of the United States. Their parents have been paying the monthly fee, while the students have been working hard in order to maintain their good grades. The trip lasted five days and included the students having the opportunity to attend a baseball game and visit many tourist attractions.

This exciting trip started on May 10th when the students left Nicaragua at 6:15 am. That means that the students had to be at the airport at 4 am! This was in order for them to arrive at Washington at 2:20 pm ET. That same day, the students were able to attend a Washington Nationals Baseball Game.

However, the days were filled with numerous activities such as a tour of the U.S Capitol Building, visiting the numerous memorials in the city, dinner at the Potomac and time to a be able to shop at the Pentagon City Mall.

I asked some of the students who attended about their thoughts about the trip. Maria Alejandra Delgadillo, said “ I did not want to leave. It was a beautiful place and I wish I could go back.” Most of the students had similar answers about how this trip was fun and how they want to go back.

This is the second time that the school has planned this annual field trip with the 8th grade students. Hopefully, the school will keep offering these type of trips where students are able to interact with the environment that they’re studying
