Knowledge Bowl Winners

Congratulations to the ANS Knowledge Bowl team for winning second place in the AASCA Knowledge Bowl!

Screen Shot 2015-12-02 at 1.05.16 PMOur ANS team traveled to Guatemala this month to participate in the Central American-wide competition known as Knowledge Bowl. It’s a set of interdisciplinary academic quiz competitions. This “sport for the mind” was held in the American School of Guatemala from November 12th to the 14th, where 12 of the most competitive and prestigious schools participated. Topics covered in the tournament included English, grammar and usage, world literature, biology, geology, chemistry, astronomy, physical science, world history, U.S. history, geography, U.S. government, current world events, mathematics, music, art and drama.

Our ANS coach, Mr. Vince Fernandez, along with the talented team members, brought home to Nicaragua the 2nd place trophy. This is breaks last year’s record of 3rd place, and is the best place ever won in ANS’ history!

The ANS Tigers couldn’t have made our student body and staff any prouder. The Eye of the Tiger Newspaper would like to congratulate each and every member of the Knowledge Bowl club for giving it their 100%!

  1. Thanks to Andrea Rosales and Andrea Barberena for this article on our ANS Knowledge Bowl Team.

I have been working with ANS Knowledge Bowl Team for three years. Our ANS KB members did an outstanding job this year by winning 2nd place and finishing number 1 seed before the elimination round. I made myself a promise to win First Place this 2016. I also want to bring a surprise to our ANS community. We want to host the 2016 AASCA Knowledge Bowl Tournament. It will be the first time to host this tournament in Nicaragua and I hope we can take the lead to organize it.

During the recent Knowledge Bowl Finals, I have mixed feelings. I was a former ANS Knowledge Bowl member back in 1993 and I knew how it feels to be a final competition.

I thank God for giving the privilege to experience the power of knowledge and being able to train our ANS Knowledge Bowl.

    Go Tigers!

    Mr. Vince Hernandez
