COVID-19 Frequently Asked Questions
Who follows up with a suspected or confirmed Covid-19 case?
When a suspected or positive case is sent to our ANS Medical Team, they quickly work with Administration to follow up and monitor suspected or confirmed cases of Covid19. After each report is received, the case is carefully analyzed to define the actions to follow. Below you will find the answers to the questions most frequently received.
When does quarantine start and when can my child return to school?
The determination of these dates depends on each case since it must be studied specifically according to the period of contagion. The maximum preventive isolation time is 14 days for contacts and confirmed cases. Quarantine time also depends on ongoing symptoms.
How will I know if my child is in quarantine, and if so, how will I know how long the quarantine period is?
You will know that your child must initiate quarantine by an email sent from the Principal to inform you that your child(ren) have been in close contact with a student who tested positive for COVID-19. In a follow up email, you will receive communication from our ANS Medical Team with a specific return date based on several variables. The start date will depend on the last contact your child had with a suspect or positive case.
My child’s classmates received an email to quarantine, but we did not receive one. Can my child attend school?
The quarantine emails are sent after tracing contacts with a possible or confirmed case. If you did not receive a notification from the Principal or ANS Medical Team, it means that your child is not part of the contact tracing; therefore, he or she does not need to quarantine and can continue attending the face-to-face sessions.
When do you let us know when the children can return?
You will receive a notification in an email from the ANS Medical Team that will indicate when the period of preventive quarantine is no longer required. In addition, the ANS Medical Team will follow up to verify the student’s health status at the end of the quarantine where you will be informed again of the date they can return to face-to-face classes if they are symptom free.
Should my family go into quarantine like my son?
The recommendation is that families quarantine themselves as much as possible, especially when ANS has reported the close contact of your children with a positive case of COVID-19. However, you should consult with your general practitioner about which steps to follow in your particular case.
Early Reporting/ Communication
Should I notify the school if someone in the student’s family or the student himself has COVID symptoms (fever, chills, cough, shortness of breath or difficulty breathing, muscle or body aches, headache, new loss of taste or smell, sore throat, congestion or runny nose, nausea or vomiting, diarrhea)?
If your child or someone in your family has COVID symptoms, please do not send him or her to school. Inform the ANS Medical ServiceTeam immediately at [email protected] and contact his or her family doctor for the correct procedures to follow.
What does the school do with a child who shows symptoms?
If your child develops symptoms during any face-to-face sessions, he or she will be examined by the school doctor. If necessary, he or she will be placed in isolation, and the ANS Medical Team will contact the families so the student can be picked up immediately.
Can you tell us the name of the students who have suspect cases?
All suspected or confirmed cases are strictly maintained as confidential information available only to the family, the Administration, and the ANS Medical Team.
How do we know who has been vaccinated or not?
All vaccination records for students and employees are strictly maintained as confidential information available only to the family, the Administration, and the ANS Medical Team.
Is there a place where I can see who is quarantined and who is not?
As we must protect the privacy of our community, no lists of quarantined cases will be publicly available. You will only be informed if the quarantine applies to any of your children.
Who should I contact to find out the links for virtual classes my child should use when he or she goes into quarantine?
Please contact our Director of Learning, Katy Meyer at [email protected].
What happens if the whole school goes into quarantine?
All students will move to our temporary distance learning plan for the duration of time indicated in the email sent by the school. This is the same plan we used for the September 3-20 quarantine.
