Global Studies Academy Community Capstone Project

Students enrolled in the Global Studies Academy are required to complete a Community Capstone Project during either their junior or senior year.  Students are allowed to choose a topic of their choice for their project.  The project must be action-based and address a community problem or concern.  The project must be approved by the Global Studies Academy coordinator.  The project should demonstrate the following skills:  critical thinking, problem solving, research ability, and effective communication ability.

Capstone Project Process

  • Identify a core question that addresses a problem or concern within the community.
  • Conduct thorough research that pertains to the problem or concern.
  • Create a project that attempts to solve the problem or address the concern.
  • Present the project to the school community.

*Regular meetings with the Global Studies Academy coordinator are an important part of the Capstone Project.  The GSA coordinator will serve as mentor for the project.
