Elementary School

ANS Primary School Assistant Principal

The American Nicaraguan School seeks an assistant principal to work as part of an administrative team, focussing on the primary grades. The assistant must be fully  fluent in English and Spanish.  Prior administrative experience is preferable but not required.

We are looking for an administrator with knowledge of and ability to lead in the following areas:

  • Coach and support individual teachers in improving instruction;
  • Coach teachers and teams to implement a balanced literacy framework for teaching English language arts; EngageNY mathematics, and other academic areas;
  • Help plan and implement a three-tiered approach to academic intervention in grades K, 1, and 2;
  • Administer positive discipline supports and interventions with K, 1, and 2 students;
  • Possess strong communication skills with staff, students, and families.
  • Possess strong organizational skills.
  • Able to use a variety of technology applications and tools.

Applicants for the assistant principal position should submit a job application packet by April 21, 2017, to ANS Human Resources Director, Carola Molina, containing the following:

ANS Primary School Counselor

The American Nicaraguan School seeks a school counselor to work as part of a team of three counselors in the ANS Primary School. The counselor must be fully fluent in English and Spanish.  The counselor will focus efforts on K and 1 students, but will have school-wide responsibilities, as well.

We are looking for a counselor with knowledge of and ability to work and lead in the following areas:

  • Provide counseling services for students, individually and in groups, focusing on grades K and 1;
  • Oversee the implementation of social/emotional curriculum in grades K and 1;
  • Work with the principal and assistant principal to develop a system of behavior interventions and supports;
  • Help plan and implement a three-tiered approach to academic intervention in grades K, 1, and 2;
  • Work in a team to develop resources and programing for parents; and
  • Support positive discipline supports and interventions with K and grade 1 students.
  • The candidate should possess strong written and oral communication skills.
  • The candidate should possess strong organizational skills.
  • The candidate should have facility with a variety of technology applications.

The ELI is an extension of the American Nicaraguan School where a broader base of learners can have the opportunity to learn English as additional language. With over 40 years of experience in the field English for Language Learners, the ELI is considered to be one of the most prestigious language centers in the country. Our branches are located in Managua, Leon and Esteli. The ELI student community is comprised of nearly 3000 students. Courses are offered on Saturdays, Sundays, and weekdays.
