Environmental Issues in Latin America Program
The Environmental Issues in Latin America elective examines various problems facing Nicaragua and surrounding countries. During this semester long course, students study topics such as land pollution, water contamination, deforestation, and pesticide use. While learning about these topics, students will be asked to conduct and present research as well as participate in class discussions and debates. The culmination of this class is an eight day trip to Punta Mona, a sustainable eco-lodge in Costa Rica. During this trip, students will put the knowledge they learned during class to work by participating in various eco friendly practices.
