Drama Program

Drama I

This course contains units designed to give students an overall introduction to theatre and acting. Improvisations, Acting Methods and Techniques, Staging,

Theatre Terminology, the Business aspects, Monologue Performance, Scene Performance, Film Study, awareness and familiarity of current and past industry greats, Movement/Dance, Stage Combat and Character Analysis are all topics that will be covered in this semester long course.

* THIS IS A PERFORMANCE BASED CLASS *

Drama II

This is a semester long course designed to enhance and build upon the skills learned in Drama I. There are three prerequisites for this class.

  1. Students must have completed Drama I course with a final semester average of 90% or higher.
  2. Students must have maintained a citizenship score of 3 for both quarters of Drama I.
  3. Students must be recommended by the Drama Teacher.

This course will cover a wide range of topics such as, Complex Improvisations,  Method Acting, Emotional Recall, Movement/Dance,  Film Study, Mock Auditions,  Cold Readings, study of current and past industry greats, Character Analysis, Advanced Monologue and Scene Performance.

Theatre Tech

This is a semester long course designed for students interested in the non-performance aspects of the entertainment industry. Students will learn about everything that goes on “behind the scenes”. This course covers topics such as, Stage Costume Design, Movie Costume Design, Make-up, Directing, Producing, Lighting, Sound, Set Design, Film Study and Analysis, Industry Jobs, Industry Unions, Music in Movies, Money making and the Industries, History of Television, History of Broadway and History of Films and Hollywood.

Musical Theatre I

This course is designed to introduce students to the basics of Musical Theatre Performance. It is a semester long course covering the Study of Broadway and how it works, Building a Dossier, Staging, Singing Techniques and Proper Breathing, Character Research and Analysis, learning about current and past industry greats,  Film Study and Analysis, Ballet, Tap, Jazz, Performance Experience, Study and appreciation of Musicals from different eras and listening to and becoming familiar with the styles of various Broadway Composers and Lyricists.

* THIS IS A PERFORMANCE BASED CLASS – SINGING IS REQUIRED *

Play Production

Play Production is a semester long elective offering students a chance to learn every aspect of putting together a complete production of a full length play. Students in this class would participate in all aspects of play production:

  1. Choosing a play for our group
  2. Acting
  3. Experience the rehearsal process
  4. Publicity
  5. Costumes
  6. Props
  7. Set Design
  8. Lighting(if we get the proper facilities)
  9. Final Performance – show would be on to different evenings for a paying audience, run by the Drama Club with all proceeds going to the Drama Club.

Students who do not want to perform should be strongly discouraged from taking this class as the final performance for the public would be mandatory and a large part of their grade.
