Student Services coordinates the administration of various standardized tests throughout the year. Some of these tests are restricted to use within ANS only, and others are for access from the general public through the School's designation as a special test center in Nicaragua . In the latter case, persons seeking testing services are generally required to apply independently and access the relevant information through corresponding web sites. The costs associated with such testing are identified at the sites.
A range of tests is used for admission and placement purposes at ANS. Additionally, the following standardized tests are among those administered throughout the year:
Stanford Achievement Test
This test is administered annually to selected student populations in ANS, usually in the month of April. It assists the School in measuring performance against the larger international population completing the test at the same time. The results are made available to parents and they are retained in the student's file. It also assists the School in its efforts to reconcile curriculum content both horizontally at the same grade level, and vertically throughout the grades.
PSAT
The Preliminary SAT / National Merit Qualifying Scholarship Test is a standardized test that provides practice for the actual SAT exam.
ANS administers this test to all enrolled 10 th and 11 th graders. Any 11 th grader who is a US citizen or a US resident may qualify for a scholarship through this exam. Please log on to the web site for further information.
The SAT I is a standardized test that “measures the verbal and mathematical reasoning skills that are important to college success.” College entrance exams are customarily taken by juniors and seniors. This exam is recognized by universities in the USA, Nicaragua , Canada , Europe , Mexico, and Costa Rica. Log on to the web site for test dates and registration information.

AP means “Advanced Placement”. These exams follow student enrollment in Advanced Placement courses offered at ANS to students grades 9 through 12. Favorable performance is sometimes credited at the university level. Special permission and a fee is involved. Examinations are administered in May.
