English as a Second Language (ESL) is designed to be a temporary intervention to assist those students whose first language is not English to develop the level of proficiency required to enter the mainstream program at ANS.

ANS provides a companion program for the community in general – the English Language Institute , that has offered English language instruction for thousands of non-English speaking residents in Nicaragua.

There are several alternative ways to develop English language proficiency.  Many colleges and universities in the U.S. provide ESL institutes that offer a variety of courses at different levels.
