Volleyball and Basketball
On October 10 our Girls Volleyball and Boys Varsity Basketball teams competed in the X Technological Fair at UNICIT. They represented ANS very well by winning their respective matches and a trophy for their participation.
Basketball
On October 25, 26 & 27, our girls and boys basketball teams participated in the AASCA tournament held in Tegucigalpa, Honduras. Despite the fact that most of ANS players are not juniors or seniors, the teams did their best and represented ANS well. If they keep working hard and continue to improve, they will get better results in the future.
I Elementary Intramural Soccer Games
(October 25 - November 30)
Over the past five weeks, nine teams from 3, 4 & 5 grades participated in this event: 58 boys and 14 girls. The tournament was split in two categories: third grade category (3 teams) and the fourth and fifth grade category (5 boys teams and 1 girls team).
Students really enjoyed the competition. Matches were played during lunch time, and many students and teachers came down every day to cheer on their favorite teams. click here to view the list of participants and positions before the playoff games.
Students with Perfect Attendance
The following students were acknowledged with a certificate because of their perfect attendance at after school practices between August 13- November 14: Jacobo Chamorro, 9 grade soccer; Luis Rosales, 2 grade swimming; Alexandra Diaz Albertini, 3 grade swimming; Roberto Aguilar, 3 grade soccer; Ramiro Ortiz, 3 grade soccer; and Santiago Vega, 3 grade soccer. Congratulations to them and to their parents!
Chess
Congratulations to 6th grade students for a tremendous chess tournament they had during PE classes November 19-30. 80 students, who were split into four groups, participated in the event. The most outstanding chess players were: Group 1- First place: Daniel Boneau; Second place: Rafael Lacayo; Third place: Se Hun Han;Group 2- First place: Eduardo Montealegre; Second place: Luis Ramirez Ortiz; Third place: Manolo Baca. Group 3- First place: Kuo Tyn Yu; Second place: Karla Narvaez; Third place: Jaime Falla. Group 4- First place: Wan Yen Hsiang; Second place: Brenda Mierisch; Third place: Andrea Quadra.
Teacher workshop
On December 4, 5 & 6 Ms. Graciela Silva and Ms. Arlean Pacheco attended an International Basketball training camp, which included training Elementary basketball. Both of them work in the Elementary school and also as basketball coaches in the Elementary extracurricular program. The 24-hour training camp was sponsored by FIBA America and took place in a local university. We are confident our students will benefit from the knowledge acquired by our teachers.
Elementary Olympic Games, November 5-15
This two-week event took place during after school hours. A total of 80 students played soccer, volleyball, basketball and also performed long jumps and ran the mile race. Parents supported the activity at every moment. At the end of the event, all the students received a certificate of participation.
Week of Challenges. November 13, 14 & 15
The “Week of Challenges” is an activity in which teachers compete against varsity students. It takes place in after school hours. It is a healthy event organized for participants to have fun and release some stress. All the participants (including middle schoolers) had a good time playing softball, flag football and basketball.
