= We remind parents that Open House is tomorrow Thurs- day, September 4. Elementary will run the following schedule: 6 to 6:30 pm, Parent Assembly in the Elementary Patio; 6:30 to 7:15 pm, classroom visits and presentations by teachers. The same Schedule will be repeated as follows: 7:15 to 7:45 pm, Parent Assembly in the Elementary Patio; 7:45 to 8:30 classroom visits and presentations by teachers. Parents are welcome to attend either schedule. = Parents, please take note that all after school activities will be cancelled tomorrow, September 4, due to our Open House. = The 5th grade team has redesigned and updated their webpage. We invite you to check it out and get information about tests, quizzes, projects and upcoming events. |

= We encourage Middle School parents to visit their children’s teachers during Open House which will be held tomorrow, September 4, from 6 to 8:30 pm. This is a great time to meet them, see what they are doing in class, upcoming projects and much more. = The Middle School Student Council held elections last Friday, August 29. The results are as follows: Julio Chamorro, President; Sol Dali Lewites, Vice President; Isabel Arguello, Secretary; Luis Porta, Treasurer; Alejandro Caldera and Monica Chamorro, 7th grade representatives; Andres Marinay and Lucia Mayorga, 6th grade representatives. Congratulations! We are looking forward to a very productive year. = The Middle School Office invites parents to pick up the results of their 6th and 7th grade children’s Stanford Tests during Open House. These will be distributed right outside our office. |

= Congratulations to the 2008-2009 Class Presidents: Diego Garcia (9th), Karina Rappaccioli (10th), Maria Andrea Reyes (11th), Roberto Pellas (12th), and Representatives: Adriana Chamorro & Tania Arguello (9th), Claudia Gomez & Sun-Hun Seo (10th), Juan Carlos Mayorga & Maria Fernanda Coronel (11th), and Martin Lacayo & Miguel Diaz (12th). = Last week ANS ran an Emergency Drill which in- cluded an evacuation of students to the Covered Athletic Area. Emergency preparedness is an ongoing goal at ANS. = Next week, Ms. Augusta Lacayo will accompany 8 student leaders to the AASCA Leadership Conference in Antigua, Guatemala. Best wishes for an exciting conference to Nelson Estrada, Consuelo Pellas, Gabriela Hidalgo, Michele Bolaños, Young-Rak Kim, Kevin Duarte, Elizabeth McGregor, and Mateo Jarquin. |

TOMORROW Thursday, September 4, during the Open House, parents will be able to meet with the PE teachers at our fantastic New Covered Athletic Area (CAA). We invite everyone to come down and see the area where ANS students receive their PE classes. A slide show of the building sequence of the CAA (18 months of work, 120 slides) will be displayed. AFTER SCHOOL PRACTICES HAVE BEEN CANCELED ON THAT DAY. |

The 2008 CIS Tour will be on campus September 23. Representatives from 30 U.S. Universities will be in our new Covered Athletic Area to speak with interested students and their parents. Many of these admission representatives will present workshops. To attend one of the following sessions, students and their parents are encouraged to sign up in Student Services at 278-0028 ext 41 or rsmithvaughan@ans.edu.ni: 1-3 pm Seniors and their parents; 1:30-3 pm Juniors and their parents; 2-3 pm ANS Community and Nicaraguan Community and their parents; 3:30-4 pm attend one of these workshops: “9th-11th Grade How to Prepare for U.S. Universities, ” “The University Essay,” “The Admissions Selection Process,” “Athletic Scholarships in the U.S. University System.” |

This school year ANS teachers will continue the process of reviewing and refining the K3-12 curriculum in order to provide a challenging, up-to-date program of studies for all ANS students while continuing to meet the needs of individual students. The 2008-2009 school year has gotten off to a great start, and this year ANS faculty and staff will be preparing the way to make 2009-2010 even better. |
