The American Nicaraguan School (ANS) has maintained a reputation as the premier international school in Nicaragua for more than six decades. With international recognition and U.S. accreditation (Southern Association of Colleges and Schools), as well as the highest standards of excellence, ANS prides itself on its academically rigorous curriculum which includes many College Level Advanced Placement courses at the Secondary level.
Our Mission states that ANS will “provide its multicultural student community with a US-accredited college preparatory program.” Additionally, this Mission promotes the development of “critical thinkers and ethical individuals.” In order to attain these goals and prepare our graduates for today's complex and constantly changing global society, our campus facilities must create an optimal learning environment for our students, our teachers, and our programs.
The existing ANS High School buildings, built following the Managua earthquake in 1972, are 37 years old. Intended to be temporary structures, they do not afford the environment to adequately support the American Nicaraguan School’s instructional program. ANS students and teachers have spent many years enduring antiquated classroom spaces that are too small and too hot; it is time for ANS to build for tomorrow. The construction of a new high school building that truly supports 21st Century learning and leadership will ensure our students have classrooms and laboratories that meet the same high standards of excellence as the American Nicaraguan School’s academic program.
